Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the Stanford Classic ahead of her second round match on Wednesday due to soreness in her left arm.


The former world number revealed it after asked why she has to decline from taking part in the Stanford Classic.

After coming back from a 15-month doping ban she told the media how she feels pain in her forearm and can’t risk making it worse.

Sharapova, playing her first match in the United States since 2015, was made to work against world number 80 Brady, needing two hours to secure the 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win.
