Buhari presents 2019 budget proposal at NASS amids cheers and boos


President Muhammadu Buhari has presented the 2019 budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly, NASS.

Buhari was accompanied to the National Assembly by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, on Wednesday. Loud ovation and encomiums heralded Buhari’s arrival to the joint session with shouts of “Sai Baba’’ as he waved to the crowd.

Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara jointly presided over the joint session, with Saraki introducing the ceremony.


It was a pitch fight and protest by some lawmakers, Wednesday, ahead of the walking in of President Muhammadu Buhari into the House of Representatives chamber as he came to present the 2019 budget appropriation before the joint session of the two chambers of the National Assembly.

Many lawmakers were seen with placards singing protest song – freedom come, by struggle, by struggle. This rowdy session was mainly engaged by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmakers were seen struggling with their counterparts to quell the protest.
