The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has returned back to the former schedule for Afcon. after a close door meeting between the Football body and the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot).
The last AFCON was held in June 2018, in Egypt.but the hot weather conditions allowed both parties come together to make a decision, which was taken after the meeting yesterday.
CAF’s Deputy General Secretary, Tony Baffoe, granted an interview to the media on the outcome of the meeting.
“We have reviewed the period of the competition as requested by the Cameroonian party due to unfavourable climatic conditions during the period initially slated,”.
“After listening to the various arguments and viewpoints, and in particular from the Cameroonian meteorological authorities, the coaches and players; the representatives of the AFCON organising committee, which received the mandate from Caf Executive Committee to take the decision, has granted this request”.
