The Nigerian Police Force, through it’s Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi says, popular skitmaker, Cute Abiola will be prosecuted for disrespectful and derogatory portrayal of the police uniform.
Abdulgafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin, popularly known as Cute Abiola, was seen in recent skits wearing the police uniform, after he posted them on his social media handles on July 20 and 24 respectively.
Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi argued that the act contravened Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law.
A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong has tackled the Nigeria Police Force, and he said using police uniforms in a skit for entertainment cannot be termed as illegal, stating that entertainers worldwide use military and police uniforms for their art and craft.
The 27-year-old, who was a Nigerian Navy personnel, got detained and punished by the Nigerian Navy in 2021, for violating the armed forces’ social media policy.
His comedy career has seen him earn a few awards, like the 2019 MAYA Awards Africa for the Best Online Comedy Award, and he is married to Kudirat Mosumola.
