The Nigerian Center for Disease Control has not replaced Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello as their ambassador with her colleague Toyin Abraham.
Recall that Funke Akindele-Bello‘s disobeyed the NCDC’s law of social distancing when she held a house party that had more than 20 persons in attendance and which later led to her arrest by the Nigerian Police Force. In a video posted by the NCDC on Twitter, Toyin Abraham was seen sensitizing the public on the Coronavirus disease, a job formerly held by Funke Akindele-Bello.
However, she has now come out to debunk the claims making rounds on Nigerian blogs that she had replaced her colleague stating that she only appeared on a video by the NCDC to sensitize the public on Coronavirus.
“It has just been brought to my attention that blogs are reporting that I am now NCDC ambassador. Implying that I have been used to replace a colleague. That line of thought necessitate I put this out there. I am not an ambassador to NCDC. I do not like the narrative that I am trying to take advantage of a bad situation. I support the campaign against Covid-19, I appeared on a video campaign against the pandemic but please let’s not drag another person down. Thank you, Toyin Abraham wrote on Instagram.
