20-year-old Sanni Hameedat, who was a student of the University of Ilorin, until her demise, committed suicide in her hostel this afternoon, after lending a boy she met on Snapchat N500,000.
Some of her colleagues have said, her mother asked her to keep a sum of one million naira, pending when she’d be needing it, but she borrowed her boyfriend half of it, and the boyfriend refused to pay back.
Her boyfriend (whose name wasn’t revealed), borrowed the money from Hameedat, claiming his mother had cancer and needs the money urgently for treatment.
She was reported to have ingested a bottle of pesticide last night, but her roomie who noticed this late, saw her foaming from her mouth and also vomiting this morning.
Hameedat was undergoing her SIWES programme before the incident happened, and her body has since been moved to the mortuary, until a police report is gotten.
